Andy has extensive experience with helping Behavioral Healthcare organizations achieve their goals. He has assisted dozens of companies achieve National Accreditation and has worked to license several Behavioral Health programs to treat substance use and mental health issues throughout the country. Prior to starting Recovery Consultants, Andy held numerous positions at a nationally recognized long-term treatment facility.
Andy’s real passion is program development with Healthcare organizations. Throughout his career, Andy has gained a reputation for showing the knowledge and understanding associated with the licensing and accreditation of behavioral health facilities. Whether it’s the development of policies and procedures, the implementation of a quality management and performance improvement program, or assessing an agency’s physical plant and environment of care, Andy has consistently demonstrated the highest level of competence. Andy believes that the development and evolution of strong programs to treat addiction can make a meaningful impact on the lives of individuals and families battling with addiction.
Dr. Andrew Orf completed both his Doctorate of Psychology (Psy.D.) and Masters of Clinical Psychology at the American Psychological Association (APA) accredited Arizona School of Professional Psychology. He earned his Bachelor’s of Science in Addiction Counseling from Grand Canyon University. Dr. Orf is a Licensed Psychologist, Certified Forensic Evaluator, and recognized as an expert witness in the State of Oregon.
Dr. Orf has worked in wide range of settings with adolescents and adults from diverse backgrounds. He began his work in the mental health field over a decade ago at an outpatient substance use disorder clinic, working with adults and adolescents involved in the legal system. After obtaining his master’s degree, he worked as a primary therapist in two inpatient substance use disorder treatment centers, with a focus on evidence-based interventions, developing crisis intervention strategies, and creating a trauma-specific curriculum. His formal predoctoral training included providing psychotherapy at an outpatient mental health clinic, psychological and academic evaluations in a private practice, and court-mandated sex offender evaluation and treatment at a private practice. He completed his predoctoral internship at the APA accredited Oregon State Hospital Psychology Internship Program, with a focus on cognitive-behavioral therapy, substance use disorder treatment, violence risk assessment, and geropsychology. He completed is postdoctoral residency at the Oregon State Hospital where he conducted assessments of violence and suicidal risk, psychological and forensic testing, and provided consultations to interdisciplinary treatment teams regarding behavioral management strategies.
In addition to working with Recovery Consultants, Dr. Orf works the Forensic Evaluation Service at the Hospital in Salem, Oregon. He also owns an independent private practice where he completes a wide range of psychological and forensic evaluations, as well as providing consultation to attorneys in Oregon.
